Welcome to Friends of Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells & District

The Friends of Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells & District, usually called  the ‘Friends’, is an independent charity (registered charity no.1001830) devoted to raising funds and developing awareness of the Tunbridge Wells and District Citizens Advice. The Friends work as a fundraising committee, to arrange enjoyable events which also help to raise awareness of the vital work carried out  ‘on the ground’ by all of the volunteers and paid staff at the bureau.

Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells & District (CATWD) offers information and advice on a wide range of issues to those living or working in the Tunbridge Wells area.

The service is free, confidential, independent and impartial.  Advice is given by trained volunteers, backed up by a fully qualified paid staff team.  CATWD advisers don’t judge people, persuade them or tell them what they should do. They listen, explain all the options available and advise people on the course of action they decide to take.  The service is about helping people to understand their rights and responsibilities so that they can make informed choices and find a way through the problems they face.

CATWD advisers are currently offering advice by phone, email, webchat and online.  For more information, please see CATWD’s website:  https://www.catwd.org.uk/

Many people are not aware that Citizens Advice itself is a charity. Local Citizens Advice around the UK are not fully funded by either local or central government.
