Welcome to Friends of TWCAB
The Friends of Tunbridge Wells and District Citizens Advice Bureaux, usually called the Friends of TWCAB, is an independent charity (registered charity no.1001830) devoted to raising funds and developing awareness of the Tunbridge Wells and District CAB.
The Tunbridge Wells & District CAB operates advice centres in Tunbridge Wells and Cranbrook, holds weekly outreach surgeries in Pembury, Rusthall and Mayfield, and also provides advice at home for those who have difficulty travelling. In 2011 a new "Advice Bus" service was launched to cover Paddock Wood, Frittenden, Goudhurst, Kilndown, Brenchley, Lamberhurst, Horsmonden, Hawkhurst, Benenden, and Sandhurst. Each year the bureaux help over 6,000 people deal with more than 20,000 issues, and has been established for over 70 years. Advice is given by trained volunteers, backed up by fully qualified paid staff.
Many people are surprised to hear that CABs are charities and are not fully funded by either local or central government.
