Kindly sponsored by David Burton. We are very pleased that this event will be going ahead. The format will be different to previous years because of the Covid - 19 restrictions and we can only accommodate a maximum of 7 teams as opposed to the usual 12 or 14. We are sure that the sport and the atmosphere will be as good as ever. We are very grateful to our generous Sponsor David Burton and to those who have donated Raffle Prizes. We are most grateful to the Royal Ashdown Golf Club who have helpfully communicated their health and safety measures and given us full confidence that the event can proceed safely.

CEZANNE: PROVINCIAL FROM PROVENCE TO FATHER OF MODERN ART.
A Provencal from birth whose love of his native land was a constant, Cezanne painted determinedly and single-mindedly following his own path. He never gained entry to l’Ecole des Beaux Arts nor had a work accepted by the Salon. Difficult, touchy and anti-social, but capable of strong friendships (Zola and Pissarro), success eluded him until his old age. Then, confronted by his strong colours, single brushstrokes and original viewpoint, Picasso, Braque, and others were inspired to call him the “Father of Modern Art.”

Some may remember a very successful event we ran in October 2017 that involved Nicola Mills singing Opera for a group of about 60 diners. Everyone who attended marvelled at Nicola’s voice and her charisma. She has now devised a new show which focuses on Julie Andrews’ singing and acting career. She will be performing at the Angel Centre in Tonbridge and has kindly offered to share some of the profits of the evening with the Friends.
